I read an interesting article on Yahoo about how a teenager was one of the ones who created Firefox, pretty interesting. So is anyone using this browser? What do you think of it? What's thr good, bad & ugly?

I switched to Firefox months ago and hope to never go back. IE was letting through a tsunami of pop-ups and what not no matter what I did. Netscape was better, but I dig this Mozilla number best, especially when it comes to tweakin' my blog. You asked...

i'm all mac, all the time, and have just switched to firefox. still fall back on camino and safari every so often, but from what i've seen over the last two weeks, firefox is the best i've seen.

Fed up with IE I used Opera for the last year loved it but had a few minor niggles so I changed to Firefox and I am so pleased I did. It’s just brilliant and I recommend it to anyone.

Firefox should be good until it becomes the dominant browser (or just out of the "geek-use" category) .. then there should be more exploits and hacks for it.

IE (for Windows) is hacked and exploited far more simply because of its market share and the fact that it is directly integrated into Windows.

I run Firefox on both my PC laptop and Mac desktop. There's a few sites that are IE-oriented and won't show up properly on Firefox, but that's pretty much the only time I go to IE - Windows Update and web designers who can't program (but think they can.)

Once you get your head around tabbed-windows (I started with Safari) ... you'll wonder how you ever got along without them. Kinda like cell phones.

And because Microsoft can't write secure software to save it's life ;) The number of glaringly obvious security holes they wrote into the browser (hey, I bet it'd be a good idea to let websites install and run software without even checking for permission first! That'll NEVER be exploited!, and so on) is truly astounding.

Firefox is great, especially if you get the right extensions for it. Switched over and never looked back.

to note. to say firefox was created by a teenager is misleading. it's a free software project contributed to by thousands of developers. as most of us know, it's easier to tell a story through a single person but we shouldn't forget the others.

the contributed extentions make the software. right now my browser monitors my gmail account, gives me weather updates, controls itunes, blocks ads, and with a single right click i can look up any word at dictionary.com or wikipedia.

and yes, i recommend it.

I didn't believe all the hype about Foxfire till I tried it.

I haven't gotten one popup, one ad-ware/spy-were installed, or had one nasty active-x bug me since.

And here is WHY Foxfire will still be safe when it becomes common.

Foxfire is open source. That means that anyone can tinker with it. When a hack comes out, you won't have to wait months for an update to protect yourself. You have an army of nerds out there that will develop a patch within HOURS!!!

Man I love you, nerds... I wish I was one, but I was only smart enough to become a geek. :(

I've had it since it's 1.0 release and it's a beautiful thing. I was one that was worried about it messing up my system or it would be too technical - but, no need to worry. It's a super easy install and easy to use.
What's your favorite extension? I can't live without mouse gestures now - surfing between pages is completely different. I have weatherfox in the toolbar and image zoom also. I love the favorites toolbar and am starting to use the search engine box in the corner as well. And changing the themes is fun.
I haven't done an adware scan in probably 3 weeks - where as before it was about every other day.
I have Thunderbird also. It took a little getting used too, but I'm starting to like it as well.

It rocks, I have used it for about 3 months with a cable modem with no infections of anykind. With IE I had constant problems even with protection software.

Only gripe about FireFox... they have their proprietary password-saver, and dosen't use the Apple Keychain.

While you're at it, check out Thunderbird - the email client from the same guys. I switched from Eudora awhile back and am very impressed. Its spam filter takes a little training but once you've trained it you almost never get spam in your inbox.

I too have made the switch. I'm in the process of setting it up on my kids computers too.

Get the word out... IE bites!
