Churchill Downs next Saturday

You couldn't get me any where near that place for any reason, well, maybe if there were a lot of zeros behind a number...MAYBE.

It's a flipping horse race. It's the fastest two minutes in sport, so why does it cost so much and take so long to be there. IJUST DON'T GET IT.

There are a lot of zeroes involved in my return to Churchill Downs.

We're someone's guests.

And I get to see Louisville again; stay at the Galt House; see the letters "SDF" on a baggage claim ticket; eat at Check's Cafe; drink Falls City Beer and Ale Eight One; check out my old St.Matthews haunts like Gerstle's and Dutch's; drive River Road up by Harrod's Creek; and try to explain to my Montana-born wife what Burgoo is.

Too bad we have to fly Southwest to get there. Dad wouldn't let me borrow the Gulfstream.

No, won't be there this year... haven't been in years, actually. My dad's always good at predicting the winner and he says Lawyer Ron. Of course, he lives in Owensboro where the horse is from so I don't know if that's head or heart picking for him... the horse is coming off a nice win streak heading in to the derby, though. So, I'll go with Lawyer Ron, too. And David, have a great time in your old stompin' grounds! Sounds like you will. Eat some burgoo for me... and some mutton from Old Hickory if you make it to O-boro.

mmmmm Old Hickory mutton.

Thank goodness ABC lost the rights to the Triple Crown. I'm Derby free again this year and loving it!
