I seem to be in the minority in my shop for preferring to work this way.
I don't know why anyone would want to use just one display when there's another one available. We have two HD LCD's and its really the best way to go. There's too much information to try and keep everything on one screen.

I have edited on everything from Avid,Media 100, Premiere,Speed Razor, Canopus,etc... The worst was DPS Velocity (very limited titling, realtime effects, compositing, poor codecs etc..) The best IMHO and what I use now is Final Cut Pro (intuitive, works with a almost any format, and has impressive software realtime effects) Canopus has the best DV codecs and MPEG encoders though. Avid used Canopus codecs a few years ago. Their new DNXHD codec is impressive so they say.

In college I used Premiere Pro, FCP, Avid Adrenaline, Media100(which I hated).

At work we use MPEGeditXpress, nothing very high end as where I work really dosent require so much

At home I currently use Premiere Pro 1.5 but later this year I'm going to switch to Power Mac full time to use FCP Studio
