Due to new FCC rules against shared services agreements and Sinclair being unable to find a buyer for WCIV Charleston and WCFT-WJSU Birmingham (aka WBMA ABC 33/40), Sinclair has proposed surrendering the licenses to those stations to sweeten the pot for FCC approval of the Allbritton purchase.
The end result will be those stations going dark and their programming moved over to subchannels on the other Sinclair stations in the respective markets.
