And so the trouble with drones begins.

I’ve thought about getting into the game but with drones it’s still too early given that the rules aren’t yet set and the restrictions currently in place can get you in a bunch of trouble if you’re not careful. The big question is, what constitutes "commercial" use? I’ve seen aerial footage on several shows lately as well as in corporate videos that was clearly shot by a drone. Is posting or editing-in footage legal and can it be used against you by an FAA lawsuit or criminal complaint? Is anyone out there regulating use of drone footage? If a corporate client posts a video of their swanky hotel with drone acquired footage can the FAA go after them and the person who shot it?

It’s certainly enticing to want to be on the forefront of this emerging technology, but at what cost?
