The sins of our profession

moment_truthRaise your hand if you winced at this. Or at dancing reporters. Or at newsrooms who live solely on a diet of blood, house fires and bent sheet metal on the side of the road. Or stations who celebrate being number one in covering dead children….and long for the “good ole days” where those sort of things were just not done.

They may have been the good ole days, but that is when the long slow descent into today’s mess was started.

Television has a habit of collectively forgetting its past. As such I highly suggest acquiring the two very cheap used books listed below and read them as an eye opener into the past regarding what the heck happened that allowed the climate that created today’s sometimes questionable antics.

After you are done reading them, go pay penance at the shrine of Saints Murrow and Friendly for the sins of our profession.
