Because you folks are my professional brothers and colleagues...I have to blow my horn a bit!! I sent out the following announcement to just about every e-mail address I have. As you all know, marketing is a big part of how we get our work...so...
Hi...It's me, Ken, and after 24 years in the biz and several past nominations it's finally come to pass...
With great shock, pleasure and pride I’m honored to announce that "No Greater Love," a one-hour documentary that I was the Director of Photography on, was awarded the national Emmy Award for Public and Community Service by the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences in a ceremony in New York City on Thursday, October 23. Hundreds of films had been submitted from throughout the US and 10 were nominated.
"No Greater Love" features dramatic human stories and a powerful call to
action in the hope of broadening the public's understanding and acceptance of organ donation and transplant. It was broadcast throughout the US on PBS in 2002-03. If you were not able to view it then, you can order a copy for free at: http://www.ask.hrsa.gov/detail.cfm?id=HRS00312, or by calling
1-888-ASK-HRSA (1-888-275-4772). There is a 16 minute version used primarily for group presentations to promote organ donation, and a 56 minute version that was broadcast.
It is a rare privilege, indeed, to do some good through the wide reach of television, and to be acknowledged for our efforts is doubly thrilling. The big bonus in this case, is that we produced a project that will and has helped to save lives, and that is deeply gratifying.
The film was produced through Banyan Communications, Allen Admire, Executive Producer, Don Schroeder, Director, and Florence Del Santo, Producer.
Kind regards,
Ken Willinger
