Ok so its been a couple of years since I shopped for a stick mic or even really used one much. What do you recommend it would probably be occasional use but I would like to add 1 or 2 just in case the need arises.

I've always been partial to the RE-50 I just didn't know if there is anything newer or better out there in that category.

The Beyerdynamic M58 is pretty sweet, but pricey. It's really long, and this is key when working without a reporter! I find it does a bit better than the RE-50 in noisy environments. and the sound is a bit warmer. I use a foam bike handle over the shaft because it protects the mic and also prevents handing noise.

EV RE-50. Get the black one. It looks better on camera.

They're great in the wind, a noisy environment, or for killing small vermin. They have very low handeling noise, and the pick up pattern is pretty tight. You can't go wrong with one.

Sennheiser MD 46. Very directional, great in high wind and rugged.

The Shure SM 63.
This is my “Its all turned to sh!t but at least I can trust my sound to be there” mic.
Floods, fires, hurricanes, jet boat racing you name it, my Sure SM63 has never let me down and goes with me everywhere... well not everywhere... everywhere when I’m working...
