.....in Boca Raton, Fla. anyone every shoot for them? did a shoot back in august and i am having some issues getting paid. everything seemed legit when i agreed to do the shoot. just wondering if i am about to get screwed.

I just did a shoot for them 2 days a go. Their regular guy got in a car accident and I was pulled from another shoot to fill in. What's the situation??

once they got passed thirty days i sent the producer a friendly reminder in an email. she got me in touch with the account person, i emailed her, never heard from her. i emailed the producer about four or five times over the course of two weeks. got about two replies from her apologizing and saying she was checking on it. finally got a reply today from the account girl saying they dont have my invoice on file. this is definately something that could have been answered weeks ago. so i emailed another invoice, we'll see what happens.

They've contacted me before and I told them payment before shipping tapes. Some reason all the shoots "fell through".

Another one trying the same scam is "Food for Thought" out of Vancouver, Canada. They promise a segment on PBS and take the clients money. They've screwed several shooters in Canada and one in Atlanta...me.

While we're at it, I finally got a judgement against Champboat out of Charlotte, NC. They owe me for an event last year. They also screwed a production house in Atlanta that posted 8 shows for them. I'm hoping to have marshalls seizing their office soon. When I get the notice they are going, I'm going to be there with a camera. Should be fun.

Since moving to Florida 11 years ago I have yet to invoice any company with a Florida address. I don't know of any local shooter that did not get stuck with an unpaid bill from a Florida production company. I'm sure there are many good ones but I have yet to find them. My policy with Florida non broadcasting clients is check before tapes and usually they walk away. Actually the only one in the last 20 years that tried to screw me, long before I even considered moving to Florida, was a Florida company that tried to stiff me for an 8K final balance on a large project. On this project they were actually doing it at the tune of 250K, real operators. They put many small guys out of business.

The production/marketing company insisted that I immediately overnight the finished tapes, instead I sent them VHS with TC burned window for "Final Approval". They called me back screaming and threatening to destroy me financially. That short delay proven to be a very wise move, two days later I got an official letter form local court informing me that the company had filed for Chapter 11 liquidation and I was listed as an unsecured creditor, (actually with the tapes in my possession I was a well secured creditor). The client who paid the production company for the project got permission from the court to deal with me directly, took a few months but I got my money back plus much more and that client became my client. That client was the Tourist Board of a Caribbean Island. If they can do it to them imagine what they can do to us. From then on is check for tape.

update

just wanted to update this thread. still havent been paid, ive lost track of how long it's been. i got in touch with a collections agency today, so we'll see what happens next.

man - sorry i missed the updated thread.
i'm shooting tomorrow, but should be available to shoot in there on wed or thursday.....got an address???

if you had to resend the invoice, and it's been several months, it's likely they aren't paying

what is it about florida? the only issues I've had in 20 years is with florida productions

guys - PM me their address and your details and i'll do my best to get in there next week. i'm tied up today and shooting tomorrow, but there are some opportunities next week.

I just read this thread. I have an invoice out with Multi-Media in Boca from late September... Boo Hiss, this doesn't make me real happy. I have only been stiffed one other time in 15 years.

Well, well...I have an invoice that's just coming due. I had them pay half upfront, so I made something on the deal.

Would all that have outstanding invoices with Multimedia please email me at tvshooter@comcast.net. I have some expereince chasing down people (see the Victory thread in this forum). I've done some cursory checks, and if there's enough people, we may be able to file a RICO complaint with the state attorney.

One thing I do know about Multi Media Productions is that all of their studio work is done by Platypus Productions / WXEL (the PBS station for West Palm). Try calling them to see if they can do anything for you.

guys - big apologies on not making it up there.
with my recent gear theft and then working wed, today and tomorrow, i had the best of intentions but it has not gone as planned.

i'm out of town all next week, but its on my radar and i really hope to get there. i know i would appreciate it if the shoe were on the other foot, so just know that i haven't forgotten...it just had to slide down the list a little bit.

hey, its cool. you have your own issues you are dealing with right now. i appreciate you even considering the effort.
