Argentina advice

A friend is going to shoot at the Olympics but will be landing in Argentina for a day before flying onward. He is not shooting there. Argentina is not a carnet country and he is worried he might get pinged going in and out of customs with his kit. Anyone have any advice for him?

How long is his layover? Is he shooting in the country or just on a change of planes?

If he can prove with the rest of his itinerary that is a short stop as part of a longer trip he might be ok. Credentials will help too.
