i watched the first one and i will never watch another one. it is absolutely amazing that there are people out there that could do this. and then for them to say they are doing it in the name of allah is ridiculous. if i were president most of iraq would be strip malls by now.

One question:

WHY???

Why would you buy into terrorist propaganda?
It's bad enough I saw the first beheading.
Never again.
What a mess in Iraq; not worth the invasion.

This smells of a double poster - and in very bad taste to top it off. If you're going to post something like this, have the balls to put your name up.
I watched the Berg video. It's doesn't go down like you think and is very gruesome and disturbing. I've heard the latest are worse.
I debate whether as a journalist you should watch one or not. Anyone have thoughts on that? I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and can see where people think it plays into the terrorists hand. But it does provide some insight into that world. On the flip side, it will make you angry, much like watching the planes crash on 9/11.

Exactly. I watched the Berg video too. Like most photogs, I've seen a lot of disturbing stuff, but nothing prepares you for this. I don't know why I checked it out. If you haven't seen it, take my word for it, you don't want to see it. - I couldn't sleep the night after watching it.

$0.02...

I haven't seen any of them.

There is a school of thought that people should see these videos to get an understanding of what we are dealing with over there.

I for one don't need to see it to understand.

These people have done nothing to support the US war machine if you so like to call it. They have done nothing to harm the Iraqi's or any other muslim. These are people (for the most part) working to rebuild Iraq.

I personally, journalistic impartiallity aside, hope to see every one of these terrorists drawn and quartered. That's something I'd watch. I am sure I am being hypocritical here, but that's my perogitive.

As for innocent people being murdered in the name of God, well, no thanks.

I did NOT watch the Berg video and have no plans to witness the latest beheading. The mere knowledge that irrational heretics sawed off the head of one of my fellow Americans is enough to get me in a fighting mood. I don't need to wallow in the grisly visuals to grasp the impact of such an unthinkable action.

In an earlier discussion of the Berg video, Lensmith made a salient point - likening the beheading video making the rounds to that of kiddie porn. You don't need to watch footage of an adult sexually assaulting a minor to understand it is EVIL in it's highest form.

Some will no doubt counter my claim, vowing the only way to truly know our enemies' intention is to bear first hand witness to their atrocities. Perhaps...but I think they're just getting their sick little rocks off on the shock value of it all.

I don't know about you, but I have better things to do with my time, like making sure I'm registered to vote for the candidate of my choice, and supporting our military at every given chance. It sure beats the hell out of staring transfixed at the latest internet snuff film, don't you think?

Thank-you for the link...

"bad taste" is subjective. One's opinion -- not fact.

This was NOT a "double post." A reporter at work asked if anyone could get a hold of the be-heading video. So, I turned to my wise & resouceful collegues here on this message board for assistance.

(Months ago, our chief editor had a copy of the Berg video that he dubbed off of a sat window feed)

I'm glad I saw that video & I'm looking forward to seeing BOTH of these new links with my reporter friend at work.

Some might say that no one should see these brutal acts of war. Others might say that everyone with any connection to this war ought to see these horrific images. I say -- the choice is yours!

War is Hell.

As photo-journalists we should be asking our leaders & our community: Why are we over there? Why?

To protect our nation's freedom? Or, to CONTROL and "protect" the second largest oil supply in the world.

PS -- I'm not into the whole "register" thing on this website... I appreciate that the founders of this useful site have set it up so that your name, rank, and serial number aren't necessary to participate. Being unregistered works for me. Along with our first amendment -- I enjoy communicating freely without fear of retaliation from others.

While I understand what you are saying with your posts, I question your wording...I look forward to seeing my wife and baby. I look forward to eating the spaghetti that I just made. I DO NOT look forward to see someone's head sawed off. That's what happens in the video, it's sawed off while he screams in shear terror and utter pain. No two ways about it, it is brutal and horrific.

Watching the video brought me no pleasure and I would not recommend that anyone else watch it. I only did so to, in a way, share in the pain that the families of these poor souls are now going through. God bless them and comfort them. And may He bring swift justice to the monsters that commit these acts.

Glad to hear you're 'looking forward' to watching these links. If you're lucky, more Americans will die so you and your buddy can huddle over the carnage in an edit bay of your choice. You two must be a real blast at cocktail parties.

War is Hell.

Staggering insight you have there. Any other wisdom you want to share? How about 'Measure Twice, Cut Once"? That always looks good in print.

As photo-journalists we should be asking our leaders & our community: Why are we over there? Why? To protect our nation's freedom? Or, to CONTROL and "protect" the second largest oil supply in the world.

And you're helping matters by hoarding snuff films?

Yeah, well "If Grandma had wheels, she'd be a wagon." What's that got to do with the topic at hand?

Let me get this straight: You look forward to viewing other's violent deaths, hold strong opinions on our nation's foreign policy, but fear retaliation from an internet message board? What IS this? Candid Camera?

The Bible is not only one of the most quoted books, but hypocritical too. For every quote some one makes, there is one the opposite.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Christian, and believe the Bible is the most historical, and wonderful document in existance...but please. I can't stand when people have to use a Biblical quote as a crutch to get their point across.

I'm a Christian too, however, I have no clue as to why Galatians was quoted above....to whom do you refer as trying to mock God???

Well put. I wish I didn't let curiosity get the better of me. As far as better things to do with your time ANYTHING is better than watching any of those videos.

The fact that are people are getting their heads lopped off while being humiliated, mocked, and videotaped while the country seems to go on without skipping a beat shocks the hell out of me... This is an election year by god and no one seems to give a rat's a** about anything over there since Abu Graihb...Each one of those people is no different than anyone we lost on 9-11 and their lives mean no less...where's all the a** kicking rhetoric now? ... oh yes...see above -

"ELECTION YEAR"

This is worse than 'Nam...our body count may be much less but the horror is greater and our body count unfortunately is not finished climbing...

We're losing ALOT of good people over there in what looks like an incredibly vain attempt to establish SOME type of democracy that isn't wanted...

I have always had an eerie fascination with autopsy photos and things of the sort. Not because they excite me, but because it's interesting to see all the strange things that can happen to our mortal shells once we're not in them anymore. So, A while back I decided to watch the Berg video. I've looked at tons of Autopsy pictures, crime scene pics, even several real dead bodies up close... all without batting an eyelash. I have never seen something that made me feel the way the Berg video did... and for that reason, I will never watch another. All the folks at work were yakking it up a few months back with "Did you watch it yet?" One girl said she hadn't, I told her she should never. I guess that's my point. To see pictures of people killed in car ax's is sort of a reminder of our own mortality. To see someone's life literally being stolen from them in such a painfully gruesome way is just sad. It feels like the worst kind of sadness, and it doesn't go away. It sticks around for a long time. To sum it all up, it isn't "neat", and it's smoething that will change the way you look at the world forever.
