Henry Ramos here from News12NJ. Here's a photo from the evening of 9-11, taken from the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ across the river. Our truck is the one at the front of the line.

First comes the usual news reflex to a disaster. Send the trucks, send the crews. Anywhere. Because there's a period of confusion before efficiency can set in. Partially because everyone is thinking of who they know "down there."

Phones in the city are down, cellphones too. An editor's best friend works in the towers, a photographer has family there as well.

Thank God, my wife is able to leave me a voicemail while I'm running around saying she's alright in uptown. I use Yahoo Messenger to list me as "Am okay, wife okay, cellphone on."

Bridges, tunnels closed. No access for us to the city, but we know the best skyline spots from our Jersey turf.

Things settle down at night, I crank a couple still shots of the eerie scene we're in, waiting for updates at Liberty Science Center. 7:30am rolls around so it's time to get some shuteye. I'll be needed again in a few hours...

I'm a one-man band reporter/photographer for the NBC Affiliate in Upper Michigan. I had a chance to go to the Pentagon and interview John Walsh from America's Most Wanted the tv show. I'm shooting with a Panasonic SVHS camera, since the station didn't approve of me taking our better DVC-Pro. Hope you can post this pic! Thanks, and keep the cameras rolling!

I thought you might want to see this..

I don't know if you remember the Brush Fire in Northport FL a couple months ago that almost wiped out a neighborhood, but I live and work right there now.

I've been holding down the Charlotte bureau For WBBH NBC in Fort Meyers FL.

Anyway, I was one of the first in the scene when that fire broke out. I teamed up with a paper shooter so we wouldn't get lost in the smoke. After shooting for about 20 minutes, we came across a house that was on fire...the nearest firefighter was almost a block away (and visibility was about 10 feet in the street) so I looked at the other photog--he looked at me and I said "you get a hose, I'll find some help" then we threw our gear in a pile in the front yard and took off in different directions.

After summoning the nearest truck, I ran back to the house and started helping with the fire.... right after the firefighters arrived, but before I had put down my hose--he snapped this shot. It didn't run anywhere, but he was nice enough to send it to me once he got it developed...

Add my name to the long list of fans of your website. It's the only place I've found where a true cross-section of television professionals get together from all over the world.

You do a great job with B-Roll Online.

I enjoy it because it helps me keep up with what's going on back in the US. Not to mention I see so many of my friends posting messages. You know how this business is. You make a friend and then everyone scatters for those better jobs.

I'm coming up on my five year anniversary here in Nicaragua as a freelance news photographer. It's still the best job in the world for me!

My buddy at the Reuters bureau took this shot with his new digital camera and I thought I'd pass it along to you could finally put a face to my name.

Keep up the great work on B-Roll Online!

Kevin Johnson hanging out at the end of a long dirt road in Unadilla, GA (2 hours south of Atlanta). We were covering the Air National Guard crash that killed 18 people from Virginia Beach. It was a somber location, but it gave me the chance to meet some great shooters from Atlanta. Jeff Goodall, WAGA FOX, took the picture, while Tracy Reeves, WSB ABC, was a huge help as our fellow affiliate.

I had an interesting time editing on the portable SX gear out of the back of our rental car.

Not all "travel" is exciting, but each trip is an adventure.

This is the new color scheme the station came up with. It's called the urban assault van. Its suppose to blend in rough neighborhood. The real story is our truck was parked on the wrong corner during the Laker victory parade. After the crowd rushed the van and the smoke cleared this was the end result. This was 1 of 3 vans that was damaged by the fine fans of LA. Everyone saw the one in front of the arena get destroyed. That one was off the road for month. Drive Safe
