If it were me I would lobby for the newest tapeless cams that record video on a PCMCIA card that Panasonic rolled out at NAB. That would be the way to go, no moving parts, instant access to the material by plugging it into your laptop or computer at the shop, all non-linear editing if your mamagers want it...
