Buckeye Television and Video Editing SeminarThe Ohio News Photographers Association, Ohio Valley (NATAS) National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and The Lima News will join forces to present the Buckeye Video Editing and Television Seminar on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 at the OSU Lima Campus.
The Lima News will provide breakfast and lunch. We are indeed grateful for the generous offer and believe this will make it a seamless workshop so participants won't need to leave. Breakfast will start at 8:30 am with the program starting shortly thereafter. The daylong program should wrap up by 4.
The event will feature an editing workshop for video beginners by ONPA Television Vice President Anthony Mirones, from WCPO-TV in Cincinnati as well as a presentation for television photographers by ONPA Television Photographer of the Year David Bradford from WJW-TV in Cleveland.
Bradford’s presentation for television photographers will offer shooting and sound techniques with tips on putting a photo essay together and how to think outside the box and make the ordinary original.
Video beginners will learn how to keep it simple, and what questions to ask to get the best sound bites for "stinger" sound bites and how to use those answers. You will learn how to build a story and how to recognize when you need a script. The primary focus though will be on workflow and how to turn your story around and not get bogged down in editing process.
The Ohio Valley (NATAS) National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is providing 40; 2GB flash drives for the workshop. All participants in the video-editing seminar will have the same video as the presenter and will be able to see how personal taste and talent can change a story's pacing and flow.
This is a hands on seminar so those attending the video-editing seminar must bring a laptop computer with any version of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express. The seminar is free but space is limited and participants MUST pre-register. To register simply send an e-mail to Anthony Mirones at anthony.mirones@wcpo.com by July 28.
The original Buckeye Television seminar was the brainchild of Ali Ghanbari, now at WJW-TV in Cleveland. Ghanbari’s inspiration came after being a speaker at the NPPA Television Airborne Seminar in 1994. The premise was simple. Photographers from across the state would give their time and talent and provide a free seminar.
After several years ONPA came on board to pick up expenses and adopted the Buckeye. This year several others have come on board to expand the program and offer a great learning experience for those attending. Special thanks to Lima News publisher Stephen Johnson and chief photographer Craig Orosz, speakers Anthony Mirones and David Bradford as well as the Ohio Valley NATAS and the OSU Lima Campus for hosting this event.
