This could get to be a series. :)

As far as I can tell, while I'm importing video using the log and capture tool there is no way to set markers, see time code, or monitor audio levels. Am I missing something?

thanks!

Off the top of my head,
TC should be at the bottom of the capture window with the transport controls.

Monitor audio via the deck since you are using Firewire.

The only way that I can think to mark would be to comment of the footage.

It has been awhile since I cut of FCP.

Log and capture uses the standard keys. While viewing a clip on tape, JKL for deck control and I/O for markers, then F2 to 'log' the clip into the batch. When finished logging, do a batch capture to digitize your clips into the bin.

You can monitor audio... there is a tab on the log/capture interface where you select a checkbox to monitor audio. It's off by default.

If you can drop a few bucks on lynda.com, they have a whole section for importing video. Very helpful. I've been editing on FCP for a few years, and I just started going thru the tutorials, and I'm still learning stuff.
