FRESNO — A former radio and television personality is looking at the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced on sexual molestation charges.
Nicholas Fanady, who went by the name Nick Ryan, was sentenced today to 78 years-to-life in prison after being convicted on 13 felonies involving the abuse of three boys.
In sentencing the 62-year-old Fanady, Fresno County Superior Court Judge William Kent Hamlin acknowledged the sentence was harsh but said the punishment fit the crime.
Fanady was fired as co-host of the morning news program at of a Fresno TV station 30 nearly five years ago, when the mother of another boy said that Fanady and her son went skinny dipping and the man touched the boy sexually.
In a later incident, Fanady allegedly approached boys at a city park and took one of the boys to a secluded area.
Fanady most recently worked for Fresno radio station KMPH until his arrest last year.
