Avid YouTube Exporting

Chronically Confused

Well-known member
I'm trying to find a good combination in the export menu that keeps file size down without sacrificing video/sound quality for normal length packages with Avid.

Does anyone have a good combo they use when doing this? I am having a hard time finding one. I'm used to Edius where it gave me many more options than avid is right now.

A good file size I think for a 1.30 pkg would be 100 megs. Is that possible with Avid?

Settings

Hi,

I've had several cracks at this. Lots of trial and error till I came up with something that works. BTW - these are also the settings recommended (and used) by the station I work for.

STEP ONE:
Export your final sequence in AVID to a Quicktime Reference file

STEP TWO:
Import the Reference file into Sorenson Squeeze

STEP THREE:
Use these settings to convert into an MPEG-2

Date Rate: 96
Sample Size: 16
Sample Rate: 48000
Channels: Stereo

Stream TypeL Elementary
Method: One-Pass CBR
Data Rate: 6000
Format: NTSC
Frame Size: 720 x 480
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Field Encoding: Bottom Field First
Frame Rate: 1

You can crank the rates up higher, but it'll take longer to send (assuming you're sending over FTP).
