Anybody have any info on GY-DV5100U

I'm wondering if anyone is currently using these cameras in their newsroom? All information is greatly needed as the station I will be working with soon is looking into this new aquisition. I know there is a big interest in going tapeless and this is a fix to that transition and JVC is offering this "inexpensive" option. Thanks.

A couple of us have the JVC DV500 variants. I think if you do a search, one thread talks about an issue with the Firestore drive beeping when recording. The hard drive JVC sells, is just a rebadged Firestore FS-3. By far, the best pora-HD in my book. The build quality of the JVX 500 and 5000 series isnt as good as your run-of-the-day Beta unit, but as long as your not hitting nails or playing ball with it, you'll be fine. It is lighter, but once you attatch a wireless set, battery, and lens it's about the same. I say lens because you'll be much better off without the included Fuji 14x lens. Once you switch, it looks much better.
