Using GrassValley Newsedit LT for FTP Transfers

Does anyone have experience using the GV LT for sending Files via FTP sites? Read a PDF file that hinted you could use the edit program to compress files to a MPG or AVI file and decompress back to original file after sending. Any thoughts, must get file sizes down for faster transfer time. GXF files are too large, takes up to 36 minutes for less than :60.

You don't really decompress MPEG material but you an encode to it for sending through the pipe. AVI files are typically not compressed files. If you want lossless compression, you might take the GXF files and throw all into one ZIP file before sending via FTP. There are a plethora of inexpensive and/or free FTP applications you can launch from the desktop (outside the editor).

The ZIP file can be created by Windows using the built in compress files function. When the other end opens the ZIP file, it will reconstitute into the original GXF files. Just be prepared for the additional time required to compress the files on your end.
