Do the teams stay and practice in the host city for both weeks leading up to the superbowl or do they stay home the first week and then go to the host city the second week?
For those of you who have worked the SB, is there much demand the first week?
Thanks
F

The teams usually arrive on Sunday or Monday prior to the game. That would mean teams would arrive in Detroit Jan. 30th, 2006. The first week after the AFC & NFC Championships from Jan. 23nd to Jan. 29. the teams will practice in their home cities. Media availability is very limited during this home week.

Once the teams are in Detroit. The NFL usually has teams practice at local college facilities and their hotels are often on opposite sides of town. Open practices are rare during SB week. Daily news conferences and player media availabilities are at the team hotels and at NFL media HQ. The NFL has a separate media HQ hotel where the head coaches and NFL officials have daily news conferences.

My only question is why Detroit? Not what I'd call a SB kinda town.

Thanks for the info.

Only one reason to have a super bowl in detroit, in fact 2 in detroit now. Automobile advertising.
GM, Ford & Chrysler spend a huge amount of money and they asked for this. Don't forget the game is at Ford field.
Indy & Seattle haven't hosted one. Not enough pull.

The old one is good enough for a SB. It's the clout from major corporations that will bring a SB into a northern city.
