Stringing at Disaster Sites

I am back freelance shooting after having a desk job for 6 years. I'm relatively close to the Colorado fires and am ready with my soundman to go up there and string.

Is this a bad idea? I don't have any credentials anymore but I do have lodging and can be onsite looking for work in 24 hours. Back in the day we could do this but have times changed too much to realistically go into a disaster zone and get picked up for stringing?

Do you have a client? With all of the sharing going on between media, unless you get the money shot you may not be able to sell what you shoot.

Hmmm, you're probably right.
I've been mostly shooting non-news for organization's fund raising. News is a different animal. Thanks.
Cyndy Green from KTVU? I worked there 14 years in production. '76-'90. Worked for McCuaig a lot.
Cheers.

Our paths must have crossed/I worked at KQED 78-80 but freelanced at KTVU before and after that. Gotta reach back and see if I can remember you...
