New 24fps firmware for the Canon 5D

Which pretty much tells you that they're applying that same firmware upgrade on a product we likely haven't seen yet.

Although I foresee a new 5D model in the very near future with all the features of the 7D but with the 5D full size sensor, Canon will release this month a significant free firmware upgrade.

And when the 5D Mark III comes out, I really hope people don't go ga-ga over it as it seems like what is happening with every DSLR that shoots video. The only thing I would be excited about w/ the Mark III is that there will be a bunch of used Mark II cameras for sale cheap.

Now when a DSLR is announced with (at least these features) 2 XLR inputs, 2 channel audio control (faders), & a headphone jack, then there should be some ga-ga going on.

Still glad to see the 5D will be getting 24p.

yeah, I know...

While I think beactek is a good company, and I own one of their adapters, my first experience was with one that was completely broken. Add in the fact that I've seen lots of damaged 1/8" mic inputs, that I really try to stay away from them as much as possible.

I think their adapter is a stop gap (and a clever one at that), but video NEEDs audio, & it isn't a pro video camera if you can't use pro mics.

A great firmware update would be Timecode - one that could synch to a DAT recorder. There is absolutely no need to record audio in-camera then.
