Job Requirements These Days

Remember the days when jobs were advertised for a specific position? Now a days, employers try to get 2 for 1 or more. I saw this recent ad from a TV station where I worked over 20 years ago.

XXXX seeks a full time Associate Producer & Film Editor to join our Emmy award winning local production team. Candidates must have experience with Premiere Pro, Avid, After Affects
and Photo Shop Systems. Applicants must have at least three years practical television production experience with strong written and oral communication skills. Type 60-80 words per minute and able to lift up to 30 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license.

Still editing film??? Photo Shop???

The typing requirement would knock me out. :>)

That kind of job posting is very normal. Employer want you to know the world, then pay you nothing. The terms are pretty funny. Someone in HR has no ideas. All they left out was being on-camera.

It's funny... As my own boss I expect myself to do all that and more.

But I also pay a tad more as well.

Guess I need to take a typing test and see if I get a "quality of services" raise this quarter.

80 wpm is really fast. It is in a pro typist speed range. From Wikipedia:

"An average professional typist types usually in speeds of 50 to 80 wpm"

I have never seen that requirement for a production job before.

"and must be able to juggle fire torches" :>)
