Help save The Senator Theatre!

Anyone who has worked in the Baltimore market or is from Baltimore knows the historic Senator Theatre. I just got this info in an email from Women In Film of MD:

The Senator Theatre…Baltimore’s last “vintage cinema” is scheduled to be sold at a foreclosure auction on Wednesday, February 21st. So far they have raised $58,000 of the $93,000 to keep it out of foreclosure. This amount has come from a grassroots effort from individuals just like you who are sending $1 and up...people from all over the country and even Europe.

So, if you love the Senator and what it stands for I thought you would want to know about an opportunity to save this historical place. They have set up a Pay Pal account to take donations. I’m sure you can also send a check directly to the theatre. But do it soon! At the very least maybe you could go see a movie there this weekend.

There are link to news stories on their website where you can read how the owner of the Senator thinks he can pull out of this and be financially healthier going forward…otherwise this is just a temporary band aid fix. Please pass this on to anyone you think may want to help.
Thanks!

"SAVE OUR SENATOR"
FROM AN AUCTION SALE
SCHEDULED FOR 1:30pm ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST

COMING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH!

Donations to "Save Our Senator" are steadily increasing, primarily through the PayPal method on our site. We have recently noted that many of the donations are arriving from around the nation, [even a few from Europe!] although there has been no national media coverage of The Senator's plight.

It's apparent that individuals living in the Baltimore area, concerned that the beloved Senator Theatre may soon be shuttered due to foreclosure, are responding to the crisis by disseminating information about what is taking place to like-minded others across the nation. It's an evolving grass roots rocess that is heartening to behold.

As of Thursday vening, February 15th we have raised 58.3K of the $93,000 required to prevent The Senator from going under the gavel on Wednesday, February 21st.

Thanks to all of you who have made contributions to help keep The Senator open and operating, we are well on our way to meeting our goal by the deadline, which is only 5 days away. It is through your generosity and support at this critical turning point that the independent Senator heatre will be preserved for your enjoyment as a vital multi-purpose ntertainment facility and community resource.

If we are to meet our $93,000 goal by the 2/21 deadline, it requires a continued geometrical progression of donations to overcome this threat to The Senator Theatre's operational status. With your help we can preserve and protect The Senator and its unbroken 67-year chain of family ownership and operation.

Thank you all, and we'll see you at the movies!

Sncerely,
Tom Kiefaber

Put me down as sorry the building may be destroyed but unwilling to help bail out a family that apparently doesn't know how to run a business and didn't care enough to sell the theatre to someone who would preserve it.
