Converting MP4 files to QT?

I'm having trouble converting an .mp4 video file to .mov or something that will work with QT. I tried converting it with MPEG Streamclip and importing into FCP then converting to QT but neither way worked. Anyone have any ideas?

We use Streamclip to convert to Quicktime. There are several settings to choice from with in Steamclip.

What are you getting? Low quality or a file that FCP will not open at all?

We use Carbon Coder. Works well.

Have you tried running it through Compressor?

No, I haven't tried running through Compressor yet.

The error message I'm getting in MPEG Streamclip is "File open error. Can't find video or audio tracks". In FCP it's "General Error".

Couldn't tell from your original post, but have you ever viewed this mp4 file successfully? If so, what program did you use to view it?

Watched it on iTunes, no problem there.
