Affordable HD Editing for home/personal

Hello all.. I am interested in hearing what your recommendations are for an inexpensive and simple HD capable editing system to use to for simple personal projects. I have a powerful PC that I will put the software on. Thanks.

Well, for really inexpensive prices, you could drive over to your local Best Buy or software store and look at titles like Adobe Premiere Elements, or Sony Vegas. I've seen other titles on the shelves, but I can't remember their names off hand. Depending on how much footage you have or want to work with, purchasing an extra hard drive might be a good idea too.

What type of footage will you be editing? Extra storage? What do you plan to edit? Chug's suggestion are on the money. I believe both have software to burn DVD's. Remember that HDV will not play via the firewire to a HD monitor. You will need a third party card to watch.

Vegas just poped the 9.0 release....

BTW, the cheap Sony software is Vegas Movie Studio, not Vegas Pro.
