What if you got out a while ago, want to get back in, can't access your work tapes (for whatever reason your old place wont let you back?) but can work anyplace in the country AND money IS NOT an issue?? (Saved all my nickels and dimes over the year)

Backfocus5, is there anyway you can get a former co-worker at your old station to dub any packages you shot? If money isn't an issue, rent a camera and an edit bay for a day or two and shoot a few packages. At least you will have something.

I'd love to see a study on the overall quality of tapes submitted, say 10 or 15years ago, compared to the quality received now. What would account for the drastic drop in the percentage of quality. Causes: Cheap stations, technology advancements, VJ movement...

To pigging back on Land Rover, another reason may be bad habits. For example, kids who had tv stations in their high school and did tv in college, but were never taught simple picture composition or clean editing. They watch MTV and think if it's cool, that is the right way to do it. Not that doing the MTV thing is always bad. If you are doing a story about a high school band competition, it may work. But if you are doing a story on the governor making an appearance in town, not so much.
