16x9 Wise SxS Cards

As you know the earthquake in Japan has affected Sony distribution of their SXS cards.

16x9 has taken over US distribution of Wise SxS cards. Currently we are offering a 32GB and 64GB SxS card comparable to the SxS-1 (Orange) card from SONY. The nice feature of the cards are they incorporate a built in mini USB port to plug an included USB cable to any computer or laptop with the proper editing software to download right off the card without the need of a reader. The download speed is rated at USB 2.0 which is 480Mbps. Please take a look at the links provided. The cards can work in under crank and over crank modes with cameras such as the F3 and EX3 require. (They do not work with the Alexa)

What's the difference between the Wise and Sony SxS cards, besides the USB port?

Is any one working with them now? Any thing to report?

Brian,

I can tell you that organizations such as Abel Cine Tech and Band Pro have tested them and gone with them.

The Wise card's transfer rate (i.e., offload) is limited by the USB 2.0 protocol, i.e., 480Mbits/sec. The Sony Card reader also uses the USB 2.0 protocol; as such, is restricted by the same guidelines set by the USB 2.0 protocol.

Sony Card Reader vs Wise Card -- should be 1:1

Hope this helps...let me know if you have any other questions.

How about this recommendation for 16x9:

Two years ago I won the big Noga arm at the Broll bash...sponsored in part by 16x9. Next day I bought some extra cine locks to mount my stuff on my camera. I contacted Gregg, and he said send them back he'd replace them. Well, I was on a month long shoot, after that got distracted....never sent them in. At NAB this past April, Gregg asked me about them, and I said not to worry I'd not sent them and couldn't even find them. He and Michael Ibanez talked with me, got a card and about a week after NAB a whole box of cine locks (with a newer improved design) showed up.

A full year later.

Whatever Gregg, Michael and 16x9 sell, they back it up 100%. Most people in this forum know Band Pro and 16x9 are the same thing now.

I can say though Gregg and Michael's service are great, and regardless of their affiliation with Band Pro, if they are here (as a paid sponsor no less) and talking up a product, it's good. And if there is a problem they will stand by it.
