    Drones

6 of the last 10 topics on the board are about drones. Maybe we should change the name to drone-roll.net?

    Skype

Edited a story tonight completely shot on Skype that makes 220p look like 4K. EP Loved it. It was more about LOOK SKYPE VIDEO! than anything else. Great shots of I think sunny skies in Hawaii when the EP was dying for death and destruction. Murrow just rolled over in his grave.

KTRK ND says "No more doorknocks"

After a crew had a gun pulled on them earlier this year, the News Director at KTRK in Houston has decided to no longer ask reporters to doorknock the homes of suspects http://www.newsroomlegal.com/houston-news-director-adopts-no-knock-policy-for-reporters-chasing-criminal-suspects/ Our station...

    GoPro lens replacement

Has anyone replaced the lens on a Hero 2? I dropped mine putting it back into the case, and scratched the lens. I looked online and it seems like a pretty delicate operation. Just wonder how difficult it is.

A *POSITIVE* interaction with the cops.

I think we too often single out the run-ins we have with law enforcement, and forget that for the most part, the day to day interactions are uneventful. Today, we had a pursuit that wound through a couple of counties. I was able to get ahead of it, thinking I would just get a shot of it going...

    LiveU and driving live shots

My station is in love with the "reporter driving live on tv" live shot utilizing our LiveU. I've done a few just in the last two weeks (Probably done 10 in the last year or so), and our station has done a few others in that span as well. But, each time, the reporter I've worked with has come...

This is why quality doesn't matter anymore.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/15/Samsung-OLED-Transparent-Smart-window-CES-update/ Forget the gadget, the quality of the video is garbage. Badly lit, and simply shotgun audio. But this is what people watch today. It already has nearly 28,000 views in just over 2 days. As long as they can...

    DVD Creation Software

Looking for a program to create a DVD, obviously my resume tape. Doesn't have to be fancy. Was wondering what may be the best program out there. I have Ulead DVD maker now, and it's not my favorite.

    What happened to the ties?

Is there a tie shortage all of a sudden? At least in our market, it seems fewer and fewer male reporters are wearing ties these days. Most of the time it's the shirt and jacket with no tie look, but there's a lot of cases where it's just a shirt. No tie to be found. Is it just our market, or...

    "Take a lunch"

Nothing better than getting to an event, introducing yourselves, putting up the mast to make sure you can get a signal, getting ready to shoot and the desk makes you take a lunch. So for an hour you're sitting there and everyone wonders why you're not in covering the story.

    Did EVERY station do this?

Looking for more stories from the bear sighting reporter, came upon this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdukUT1hJa0 Did EVERY station do the exact same live shot, as the engineers switched from analog to digital?

    The Digital Transition

So, anyone know how many "converts" the 4 month delay bought us? Report here in Los Angeles is that HUNDREDS of thousands just in the Los Angeles area are still not ready. Sure seems like it really didn't help much.
