Over the last couple of years I've bought multi-tools, flashlights, and pocket knives for my guys and I'm out of ideas for this year. Keep in mind that this comes out of my pocket and whatever I get multiply by 18. Let me know what the perfect gift is.

$10 or $15 gift cert. for a good sit down resturant?

Thought of that, but if I did a gift cert I'd like to pay for the whole meal and the $20 I was planning won't get it.

Fist things first… I would not call them Christmas gifts!!! You need to call them Holiday gifts. You don’t want to offend anyone on your staff. I would be offended if I got a Christmas gift and not a Holiday gift.

Secondly… I think what you are doing is great – even more so considering it is coming out of your own pocket. $360.00 bucks very nice. I never in 17 years had a chief do anything like that for me.

Last year during "the holidays" I asked the ND to let me buy headphones for all the photogs. The selling point was better audio. The photogs got a nice little gift. Everyone was happy.

Last year I got the staff candy and coloring books. They loved it. Everyone colored in the edit bays for weeks.

I thought of the coloring books which I could afford but the price of ten thousand blue crayons would break the bank.

I may actually do it again this year. I made a comment to one the shooters and she got all exicited for new crayons.

Whatever happened to the Christmas bottle of booze or wine? Yeah...I know. It was just a fleeting memory that popped into my head.

What about those lighted king rings on here. Pretty handy out in the field if you're on a night shoot, or looking for something in the news rig.

This year I got all the shooters I worked with last year (all 30 of 'em) a handy clip-on flashlight with a mini gooseneck on it.

Last year I got them wristbands. What? you say? Well, they don't use it for a wristband, they put it over the eyecup. It replaces the chamois leather one. It's soft on the face, doesn't muck up with sweat and when it gets dirty you don't throw it out (very wasteful and expensive over the year) you just drop it in the wash and you're good to go the next day.

Many of them report they're still using it a year later and it was the most useful item in their kit.

Best benefit? $1.95 each!
