Roll Call!

Who's here?

What have you been up to the past 10 years?

This is Kevin Johnson....
I'm presently freelancing with ABC News and CBS Face the Nation...
I'll admit... I've failed... I haven't been checking into b-roll.net FORUM much at all...

Whose next?

Hey! HEY! b-roll’rs…

Checking in… Kev said I had to.

Still in the game… 36 year and counting. Too bad it wasn’t all at one shop or I could hang up my final lanyard.

Currently at CTV National News as an ENG Technician (aka shooter/editor) based in the Toronto Bureau.

Been around the world this year with assignments taking me to Tokyo -> Singapore via the Canadian Navy through the South China Sea… to Washington, DC… to Rome for the Conclave.

Stay safe out there and keep rollin!
HamCam (aka Phil)

Holy Flashback!

I used to LOVE this place, in fact it was the origin of all the blather I now spew on-line.

Sorry?

Anyhoo, how do we get this party (re)started?

I feel like there is a podcast in the making with a bunch of b-rollers... There are amazing stories to be told (and maybe actually believed)..

As the various social platforms drown in AI slop, it would be nice to have real discussions with real people... and Lenslinger of course. ;)

@cameragod - you hit the nail on the head... I'm feeling lost in a pile of AI mush and targeted ads in my social media feeds. I miss the old conversations here on b-roll.net! Great to see you back!

Wow!
That was a long nap! 🤣👍
I had to check in again.
All good for me.
Retired to Nicaragua five years ago just before Covid really got crazy.
Best decision of my life!
I always have some desire to keep up with the photog life even though I do not miss the daily grind.
I like seeing familiar names here but I will probably be more of a lurker than before.
Forty three years with a camera on my shoulder was enough and I feel very lucky my back is in great shape after all that time.
I still have lots of friends still doing the job and frankly...I am relieved I don't have to work under today's conditions.
Sending respect to all who still carry the banner and get it done...despite all the changes.

Now that's a screen name I haven't seen in a while (to be honest, I haven't been looking at b-roll.net for a long time - so I haven't seen ANY screen names).

Great to see you John... I worked with Irv Reinhard the other day and we were talking about you...

Just happy you are doing so well.
Not just professionally but also keeping B-Roll.net alive and kicking!
Give my best to Irv!
He is a true survivor in this crazy business!!!

I rarely shoot anything these days… now I’m primarily an editing/producing housecat. But I still enjoy being part of the discussion, and I’m here for it!

Same here. Most of my time is doing management/Operations types of things and picking up the occasional vo/sot.

90% of the good stories I shoot are done on my own initiative rather than something assigned by the desk or a producer.

Also, I forgot the usernames/passwords I used to use here in the before time so I ported over the one I use on other social media.

I left news ages ago and work in commercial production now. One recurring project I find personally fulfilling... We produce a couple of documentaries each year that are screened at a fundraiser for our medical school. Typically to raise awareness of our Level 1 Trauma Center. So... Instead of filming MVA's as they happen and never knowing what happened to the victims... I get to tell stories of survival and recovery. It's therapeutic now, after having spent so much time covering spot news.

Anyway, hope everyone else is well.

New to the group, but not the field! Been in the business 18 years, working out of Washington DC now. My chief told me that there was work to revive this group. Thought I’d check it out
