I wish there were such a separation. That's why we need a fence on the border! Because after they illegally enter our country, they breed like roaches down here in Texas.
They clog up our emergency rooms-gotta get that free health care-
They clog up our schools and waste teachers time trying to get them up to grade level and teach them english-gotta get that free education-
They clog up our streets with their uninsured vehicles and don't have to pay when they crash into Americans. (Many of them driving drunk)
They are stealing our Social Security numbers and screwing up our credit ratings.
They are lowering wages for all Americans because they work for slave wages under slave conditions.
They are sucking off all our entitlement programs like welfare, Government housing and food stamps.

Your plan is very shortsighted. You hate "Mexicans" and want them out of your state/country. You don't use your head to think about the issue, it's more emotion. Kind of like those bitter folks Obama was talking about...
A better plan would be the path to citizenship that Bush and members of Congress proposed last year. If you're in the country and you haven't broken any other laws aside from just being here illegally, you should have the opportunity to become legal. Pay a large fine, go through a background check and stay employed and out of trouble for several years before you become legal.
In the meantime, give them some sort of status so they can begin paying into the tax base, attend a regular doctor over the emergency room, get drivers licenses and insurance, etc. And we agree, deport if you commit a felony.
Oh, and the "Mexicans" actually cause a surplus in Social Security benefits to the tune of $5 billion (ish) a year. See, many actually pay taxes... So you'll have to change that one to (That they pay for!)

If you're in the country and you haven't broken any other laws aside from just being here illegally, you should have the opportunity to become legal.

Why? Because they're already here. Mass deportations would be horrendously expensive and lack basic human rights. Keeping the status quo is a horrible idea, as was pointed out by mjtv earlier. The best solution is to present a path to legalization, let them become citizens, get them paying into the tax base and maybe their kids can be better off than their parents.

So what about those who follow the rule of law? Those that go through the process of getting a green card. Those that work toward citizenship. Should the law not apply equally to those that skirt the law and enter this county illegally for whatever reason? Or has this country progressed from its liberal foundation of equality before the law to "thats what Jax thinks it should be"?

And it's not my idea, it's the idea of Bush and a bi-partisan group of Congressional legislators. You ease the rules of entrance into the US. Those people who have been waiting in line get fast tracked to work visas allowing entrance into the US while they continue waiting for their citizenship.
