"Massive" ABC cuts coming...

It's called Working in the Trade with Grinner Hester and is exclusively on The Busch Satellite Network. You'd have to be an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler to watch it.
Their content has kept many houses and freelancers in STL and beyond very busy for several years. The model is changing though... just like we see with other networks. My evolving with it is why I'm still in the loop when so many are simply not anymore.
With any change, bravery and confidence is required. All success requires some risk-taking and an open mind.

I know.
You'll have to settle for the original programming on my site.
Really, this is a fine example of what this thread is about... evolving and making do with resources. I'll explain.
Warren has poked fun of my "earthquake shooting." I don't think he is mean enough to say that knowing that I have benign essential tremors. It comes from handed down genes and not treating my body right in the past. At any rate, the more I try not to shake, the worse it becomes. Not good for a shooter... any more than an editor that seconds as a sound designer being deaf in one ear (which he's made fun of as well). With any art, if you can't hide it, accentuate it. That's what I've done with my camera work. If I can't lock it down, I have no choice but to sell in a hand-held documentary reality vibe. I do that by pitching a first-person POV and actually calling it glamorized home movies in the pitch. This makes my condition intentional and therefor billable. Now I do downplay my deaf ear in the edit suite. Very few of my clients are the wiser and I simply go by meters. It works for me. It works for them. I have adjusted and responded to changing conditions. That's what we are talking about here. ABC did not. They either didn't see the swelling wave or failed to ride it. It doesn't mean they have failed. Failure is a great teacher as long as you are wise enough to learn from it and make those adjustments required to succeed. The time for them to act is now though. Simply cutting overhead and continuing on a path that obviously is not working is obviously no solution.

Hey, that's great, grinner! I have a friend who works for AB. I'll see about getting him to record some of your work and we can upload it here for critique.

Sorry, as your buddy will tell ya, it's for A-B wholesalers only. I can't even share it.
I do enjoy it though. Lots of fun travel, total creative freedom, and I make friends every trip.
They get turn-key shows at a literal fraction of what they use to shell out and I get more than my normal rate because I wear multiple hats. It's a win/win and again, a good example of a fresh way of thinking.

I meant both, and used the term preditor because it came to mind first. Still not used to 'prosheditor'. I can see ABC using it for smaller shoots, but I can't see them accepting that as a real method of production on anything they value.
I've known about the preditor hybrid term for a few years. That and must work as a local, company will not pay for travel or hotel. I just added the sh insert to include shooting in that term. As I stated earlier, the producer (field producer lite) part applies to me because I've had to play the roll of a formal (sit down) and ENG (on the go) interviewer, shooter, editor as a single unit, but no writing like a real producer might do. I've seen the preditor term being incorrectly used on reality job boards because they are wanting field producer/shooters (prooters) and not editing. What they'll sometimes do is send the producer with a DV camera to shoot the interview part and then hire a real shooter(s) to do the single or multi-camera location work. Then all editing is done at their facility wherever that may be.

. . . I can't honestly answer your last question because I haven't been faced with it.
I'd really hate to put other people out of work for the sole purpose of padding my own pockets.
If a client demanded it, I might give it a go.
But most of my work is live and even trying to do the work of two (I've done it when someone calls out or when I get a moron on my crew) is pretty aggravating.
But it's not taking the job for significantly less money and undercutting just to get the work, that I understand. Like a said in a much earlier post, they need to send whatever it takes to get it done correctly, no more and no less. Multiple duties can be done with fewer people but there are and should be limits before efficiency and quality suffers. The decision makers are going to have to have a clear message of this fact sent to them. I don't like it anymore than anyone else, but I'm willing to do a little extra work for the right amount of pay.

It's a win/win and again, a good example of a fresh way of thinking.

And exactly what is this fresh way of thinking. Can we see some comparisons of your work from your older way of thinking?

Surely after 25 years in this business you must have an amazing demo reel, can we see it?

My demo is on my site, Nino.
My original programming serves as my turn-key demo.
I'm sure you don't keep all of your old timey stuff online. I don't.

That's okay; I can still get a copy of it. If he can't get it, I have another friend who has a cracked DISH network receiver... I believe the Busch Satellite Channel is there. Once I pull it, I'll upload it for critique.

Critique is not required. It meets their expectations and I get paid.
As long as an A-B employee doesn't give it to ya though, have at it.

I would think that any true professional would be open to critique by their peers and colleagues, grinner.

If you are, post up some stuff (in a different thread, of course)
I make the episodes you speak of per my client's request and would not change them in the least with any of your feedback. I do take requests for a flat fee though. Feel free to PM me for a bid.

I went there, all I saw was a composite of post production and animation graphics, some of those I know for sure and not even yours. I didn't see any productions at all, may be you have a different link?

You still didn't answer about your fresh way of thinking

I don't expect you to understand a fresh way of thinkin', Nino.
PLEASE give an example of something on my reel that I didn't create or don't say such things, sir. It's one thing to be douchy on a forum but a whole other thing to yell fake at somebody's reel.
You guys are derailing yet another thread. I believe this is why Kevin created the PRO forum.

Why don't you try me.

You're wasting your time. I'm pretty sure this is the fifth time Grinner claims to have sold shows. He's always got an excuse as to why he can't tell us what they are or why he's "not allowed" to show us.

oh good lord.
Dog, by all means provide a single thread where I mention a show called Mute Popint. I've never known where you got that from and assume you've just made it up for whatever reason. You're nutty. Please provide a thread where I stated creating a fishing show. I never have. I've edited many but have never created one or said that I have. Why on earth would I do that? lol what thing to brag about or exaggerate. I really think the only shows I've created that I've even mentioned here are Moddin' Art, Fantastic Voyages, and Working in the Trade. Not sure what that has to do with anything but since you are making things up yet again, I figured I'd at least throw some facts out there.
You guys don't care about video talk here. Nino is mad that he'll be a walmart greeter next year and you're mad because you've never done anything beyond local news... assuming you've done that much and I have reason to think that you have.

Can't. You deleted it.

Funny -- I thought I was on your ignore list? I guess all that gets brushed aside when someone rightly outs you as a liar.
