JVC GY HD-100 Camera

I'm curious if anyone out there has had any real news experience with the new JVC HD camera. We've got a demo coming in tomorrow and to be honest, I'm not real hip on it. I was lucky enough to see it in Houston a couple of weeks ago and it left me with more questions than answers. Biggest one is durablility. How will the camera handle itself in all the different circumstances that we face everyday? Also, with all the attachments that go on the camera; ie: Anton Bauer battery (we've already invested a lot into the Pro-Pac14s), wireless system (our own attached with a BEC box), Ultra Light, Sennhieser shotgun mic with Rycote softy, and possibly the disk drive (it either attaches to the back of the camera in place of the wireless, to the handle on top, or to a belt-pack tethered to the camera; all of which doesn't make much sense to me)... What I'm trying to find out is; won't the camera become cumbersome? Another major concern are the RCA video/audio outputs. RCA cables are fine for consumer and prosumer use, but not durable for everyday news gathering and specifically; live shots. The RCA outputs do not lock and they are generally weak in construction. A major concern is the RCA cable slipping out or getting damaged prior to or during a live-shot... Especially in breaking news situations where photographers must work fast to get our product on the air. A BNC connector is attachable, however because of the extra length of the BNC connector; the hanging cables (even wrapped and secured to the camera) would cause too much outward resistance causing the RCA to either slip or simply break. I was told that the stronger BNC connectors were not designed into the camera because of space limitations.

Those are a few concerns, but I'd really like to hear some views from folks that have had some real life experience with the JVC HD100.

I guess a few questions will be answered tomorrow, but still, if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

I had brought the HD100 to ESPN in Bristol, Ct and WSHM in Springfield, MA. The photogs there made the comments that the viewfinder was low quality and the lens had a VERY slow zoom. I had brought the Hytron 140 and Doinic 90 so they could try the balance and handling of the camera. Additionally we put o the wireless mounting plates and a shotgun mike. The camera gets big very quickly.

The photogs expectations were high before seeing the camera. After the demo they had to keep reminding themselves that the HD100 is a $6000 camera.
 
Thanks. We all know that the lens is interchangable, however I was told that the only lenses that actually work on the camera are the Fuginon lenses that were constucted specifically for the Gy-HD100. Is that correct?
 
that is corect as of now they say there will be another adapter soon but I havn't seen it yet.
The camera does start to get big fast
 
I tried it for a week. Liked it except for: The lens that comes with it is a bit narrow in SD. There is a wide angle adp. for it for 600 bucks. There is a wide angle lens that runs an additional 10,000 bucks available maybe in November and the camera will not be sold without the "standard" lens....other than that it's a great camera....BUT $17,000 is a bit much, don't you think?
