I am fairly familiar with the status of the big three in tulsa, i watched a couple stories of fox's online, couple of them looked decent...how is the product overall? Ratings? Gear? Respect?

the respect and money must be good, they just got the chief from another station to jump ship...

Yup on ktul....still don't know who left from 6 or 2???????...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmI eonder?

Not really. It was out of the frying pan and into the fire. KJRH-2 has some problems.

Why does everyone assume "it must be bad @ FOX?" They shoot the best stuff I have seen in the market. More creativity, and fresh faces, compared to the stale shooters at the other three. Creativity is actually encouraged and everyone is NPPA! Don't get me wrong, there are some good shooters at the other three and it is just a matter of time before they jump ship as well. FOX does have some weakness in its photography staff just as any shop will. But it is the strong shooters they have that will make the weak ones better.
I mean come on, yes they are still in the growing stages, barely even a year old and still have technical issues ocassionally. Watch 6 @ noon if you want technical issues almost every day. That has nothing to do with the photography!

As for the new chief, would you rather sit and spin your wheels on a sinking ship and go down with it? Or jump ship for a fresh start.

Congrats Aaron! Shoot me your new e-mail addy.

Tulsa is a great town. When I was working there, the FOX started up with tons of potential and they still got it from what I hear. But to say one station is better than another is just wrong.

There is a lot of great talent in Tulsa and you would learn a lot no matter what station you go to. I loved the time my wife and I spent there. Great people, great climate, and great vibes.

I really miss the sandwiches Zoo Hare made (I think it's something like that) at the sub shop on Peoria and the India Palace (if you need to introduce a little Karma into your life stop by and they'll lift you up as you eat).

Peace,
Matt

I think the sports photog at 6 shoots awesome...
He has been there awhile...the guy at 8 is good and so is 2....they also have to report too...
have you seen the new weekend sports guy at 8...
what a prima donna...never done sports except the mornings...

I worked alongside Aaron before he was a Big HooHa Chief. :D He's a helluva photographer, and he struck me as the type who would make a good manager. Whoever made the decision at Fox was smart to hire him.

Those of you who have never worked in Tulsa, it's a damned good photog market. They like to get on here and talk sh*t about each other sometimes, but every shop there has some great people you can learn from.

And of course there's Ron's and Jamil's. Sometimes I get the urge to fly out just to get a really good burger or steak.

[ KJRH-2 has some problems.[/QB][/QUOTE]

What are those problems? What is the pay scale at KJRH if you have 6 years of experience? I have never been to Tulsa, what is there to do?

2 is not the place to go if plan on making a move. They do have some talented people as I said in my last post, every station has it weak links.

2 has been struggling to find itself for years, and have not managed to succeed. I have no idea what the payscale for 2 is but FOX apparently does very well if they ahve been able to lure away the chief, CG operator, Main Director, EP and a number of other personnel.

On another note, has anyone else in the Tulsa market heard that meters are coming April 2004?

KJRH THIS KJRH THAT..!!!
BOO HOOO ..
MAN F#CK YOU ALL..!!!
AARON WAS A GREAT CHIEF PHOTOG...
COURSE EVERY STATION HAS ITS PROBLEMS.
WHEN ITS TIME TO MOVE, IT TIME TO MOVE..
GOT TO DO WHAT YOU GOT TO DO...
ON THE PREVIOUS MESSAGE SAYING FOX SHOOTS THE BEST..NOW THEY MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE EDGE BECAUSE
AARONS THERE. NOW THEY MIGHT BECOME CONSISTANT WITH THEIR STORYS. BECAUSE WHEN YOU GOT ALL DAY TO DO ONE PACKAGE YOU BETTER COME OUT WITH SOMETHING GOOD. SH!T, COME ON NOW LETS BE REAL ABOUT THIS. YOU ONLY HAVE 2 NEWS CASTS...
AND THE REPORTERS ARE GREEN..WHAT GOOD IS IT WHEN
YOU SHOOT A GREAT PKG. AND THE REPORTER SOUNDS LIKE SHE JUST LEARNED HOW TO READ.?
JUST KEEP THE STATION OUT YA MOUF..CUZ WHEN YOUR ON THE SCENE NOTHING IS BEING SAID TO OUR FACE...
LIKE I THIS ONE GUY SAID TO ME OUT AND ABOUT,
"I STOPED WORKING FOR MY STATION ALONG TIME AGO
I JUST WORK FOR MY TAPE NOW."

2 WORKS FOR YOU....

I just want some info on the place and the city. I am looking for a job and thought about going somewhere different. I don't want to be in the middle of a market pissing match. I have been all over and there are bigger problems the higher you go up in markets. I am looking for a change. If it helps any, just e-mail me at inthenews@myway.com. You don't have to leave your name.

There are talented people at FOX23 besides the new Chief Aaron. Or did you not see the 4th quarter NPPA winners? I believe 1st place was someone from FOX23. That and their photogs have won other awards and such. I know winning awards doesn't mean much, but its something, more than what I see coming out of Channel 2.
In fact I heard that 3 of the photogs that left 2, went over to FOX and got fired from there. So it seems that FOX is doing a great service to the area by weeding out the crappy photogs.
What do you mean "green reporters"? Yeah, FOX has got some crappy stuff on the weekend, but during the week, their reporters are pretty good.
Now that Aaron has left 2, is there anyone decent left over there, besides TL? Or is he leaving soon also?

2,6,8 and now fox 23 are all stations going through changes. You can always improve your skills, but in order to do that you have to sometimes move on. This market is a good tv market with good photogs at all the stations. Unfortunately the stories (reporters) are weak, and the ND`s don`t care about story-telling. That`s the reason people are jumping ship, they want to tell and shoot good stories. Big ups to A-dog for improving his skills. The tv business is a small world, help eachother out and never burn your bridges........TL

Beginning pay in Tulsa with 6 yrs would probably be about $25-30k. If you get more than 30, you've done quite well.\

TL is a heck of a photog and a great guy to have a brew with. I also think highly of a few other guys at 2, notably Ritter and Foristal. They work their tails off.

Jamil's does have great steaks, but for the best burgers in town, gotta go with Goldie's.
