Well shot and edited...love Top Gear stuff.

All the arguing of machinery you want, the Land Rover is more in the class of a Jeep Rubicon, FJ Cruiser or Nissan XTerra. Hell...even my 4X4 Jimmy can kill an Escalade or Hummer2 off-road.

GT was designed by J Mays(Art Center,Ca)and Camilo Pardo(College of Creative Studies,MI).Parts are sourced from everywhere just like the Exige(Toyota,Eibach,Brembo etc.)
So, chassis set up by Lotus, brakes from Italy, wheels from Germany, Body from England, yes, very American. Notice that European cars take parts from across Europe, but never from America. Hmmm. I wonder why that is.

Love to see some pics of your GMC Jimmy in action...Everyone knows the Escalade is a high end,street SUV...not meant for any serious offroading...get a Tahoe w/lockers and 35's if you need to get dirty.Ask Top Gear why they didn't use a Jeep Rubicon or a FJ Cruiser for the test??? I've seen a lot of H2's working Moab,not many RangeRovers though.Good parts are good parts,it all boils down to development costs and proximity to the factory...why ship a coil spring,rotor,whatever thousands of miles when you have good one down the street,already sorted and ready to install.Cmon that show was loaded just to bash America.

The jeep is a jeep. The Range Rover is an air conditioned luxury vehicle AND has incredible off road ability. Not really comparing apples with apples. The FJ is a Toyota!! Hardly American! Clarkson would be the first to admit that Japanese cars are often incredible. The quality of Japanese cars isn't in doubt.

Regarding the parts, it was the important ones that came from Europe or had their input. Even your Indy cars are made in the UK.

Those cars were the cream of the crop. The supposed best that the US has to offer. Hell they even put much lesser Euro cars against the Yank stuff to give them an even better chance! It was fair and square.

For all the Freelanders faults it was never unsafe. Unlike the Hummer which had a habit of allowing its wheels to fall off.

The thing with British cars is that when they are ****, they are considered as such over here. But on the opposite side of the coin, you guys used think this http://www.collectorcarbuff.com/collector/Lincoln_mark_V.jpg was the pinnacle of motoring!
Or this;

And about that new Vette. How many years of development of the Vette did it take before they actually had a car that handled like that? What, 40 odd years?
