Damn the whole southwest is going up in smoke... Here's some shots of the Cave Creek Fire (Pics courtesy of Kevin King and KTVK)

There's a bunch more fires all over the state right now too - these are just the BIG ones:

I'm gonna see if I can get some firebuffing in this weekend. All I can shoot right now is VHS but it'll be a good way to keep the ol' skills sharpened anyway. Beats doing the things on my weekly Honey Do list.

We had some of the largest fires here last year, but nobody knew about them because there is nobody here.

2004: 6.7 million acres.

The brown spots are the burn scars from last year. The city of Fairbanks is almost lost next to the Boundry fire.

Just had another BIG ONE start up, in the west valley. 3 alarms! (that's a big fire out here).

No one has pics yet, or I'd post them.
