Craigslist Flag Thread

HAHA! No pay so maybe you can negotiate payment in "other" ways. And why do you need a Pana or Sony HD camera for this if you're just taking stills?

Do You Want to be on IMDB.com (Miami Beach)

Reply to: gigs-swnnq-1413723101@craigslist.org

Here's the deal, we're shooting a low budget feature film in Downtown Miami (on the RED) and we need EIGHT - ONE TERABYTE (eSATA) HARD DRIVES and a couple of other things. All together these items will not cost more than $3,000. Once you email me that you're interested I'll send you the treatment and the budget so you can see where the money is going. If you ever wanted to buy your way onto IMDB or a film set here's your chance. For $3,000 we'll make you the Associate Producer so you'll name will appear in the intro credits and you can hang out on set with the crew (as long as you don't get in the way, because if you break something you will be fired) even if you lose your set privileges, you'll still get the IMDB credit.

Also if we work well together there's the chance that we'll give you some tasks to take care of and then we'll pay you a day rate, so consider the $3,000 as a test of your capabilities.

HERE ARE SOME LINKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FILM:

Don't Forget The Sister!

From the West Coast:

Seeking HD Camera Operator with his or her own gear for a documentary shoot on Monday, Dec. 12. Ideally you would have a Panasonic HVX200 or comparable camera that can shoot HD footage at 24p. I would also hope that you have sound gear such as shotgun and/or wireless lav mics.

This shoot is for a documentary on an African-American woman who was recently released from prison after 26 years -- she was put behind bars for her connection to the murder of her abusive boyfriend.

On Monday, Dec. 14 she and the sister of her victim will be speaking together to a group of African-American women to encourage them to turn away from abusive relationships and to make new beginnings for themselves and their children. This is important footage for the conclusion of the film, as it shows that the main character is free, and that she has reconciled with the family of her victim.

You will cover this from a variety of angles so that it can be edited into a short scene. I will need to see a link to footage you have shot -- ideally some verité documentary or reality footage. You need to send a link to get the gig.

The sister of the victim lives in Moreno Valley, and ideally you would be able to give her a ride to and from the location, which is in Los Angeles. Since this is a long drive, you would be paid for the drive as well as for the shoot itself.

You would need to arrive in Los Angeles by 9:30am. Filming would take place from 10:00am until 11:30am. I will not be present for the shoot and will send you a small portable drive for you to download the footage to. I can pay you before you send me the drive, so that you know that you're not getting ripped off.

Please email with a short description of yourself and your gear, and be sure to include a link to your footage and your price for completing the work, including your costs for the drive and gas.

How the hell can CL stay in business? I mean just about every job posting on there wants some one with lots of experience and/or gear and expects you to work for next to nothing, is a spammer linking you to pay site or a job about making thousands at home by stuffing envelopes. Come on CL, have some balls and create some posting standards instead of being the cesspool of the internet.

Warren

Some CL's "tv/film/radio" sites charge $25 bucks to post an job. But they can still post jobs under "crew" for free. I know that Orange County and San Diego are paying sites. Maybe LA?

Not from CL. I'm not sure what to say...

Media/performance artist has an opportunity to work with an animal in a live setting. Looking for services and information about how to proceed ethically and responsibly.

I am doing research into a project about working animals and need a bit more information on the legalities of having animals in the workplace and how they are trained and monitored.

The project in a nut shell: I want to teach a chimp how to do administration work and this trained animal would help out at an art gallery during the summer.

This must sound a bit strange and I should re state I'm determining whether the project is possible.

Animal wranglers should present a CV with relevant, related experience, and at least three references and one "highlight" film credit.

Interviews and follow up meetings will proceed early January and calls will be answered until the position is filled.

Please contact for further details.

We have started an online tv network and we are seeking someone who wants to be a part of our crew and become a partner in our endeavors to enhance the quality of our content and take this platform to another level to compete with the competition. You will get credit for your work on the productions and can add these things to your portfolio and resume. We will also work together to pull in new clients from various spectrums with our production crew as a whole and split profits. Obtaining clients is how we will make money together by using the platform we have created to attract the clients. We will bring our talent, experience, equipment, and resources together. Our platform will give exposure to all the work we do. Contact us with info about your experience, your equipment, and leave your resume, phone number and also state your location (city/state). This is a collaboration... do not contact us asking how much does it pay or sending your rates because you will be ignored for not reading the entire posting. Thank you and we look forward to those with an open mind and entrepreneurial spirit.

Compensation: Collaboration... Split Profits... Partnership...

We are totally serious about this partnership deal. We think it would be cool if you have, like, tons of experience and really good gear, plus some clients, and we could, like, act really knowledgeable and stuff, and drink expensive coffee and use you to make money for us. I mean, duh... you bring your talents and experience and gear to the table and we add super-cool attitude, make promises we can't begin to keep, get gullible people to do stuff for free while we spend money attending events that you can't because, you know, it's all about us fishing for clients and if you just stick with us a little while longer, pretty soon, everybody will be recognizing you on the street, and not just because you've become homeless helping us become fashionably parasitic, but because you've been arrested chasing us down the street demanding payment for stuff we never, ever said you'd be paid for. We totally don't do the contract thing... way too restricting for the type of cutting edge marketing we plan to do. We will SO ignore you if you even TRY to axe us questions about what we do. We expect you to jump when we say jump, shoot when we say shoot, and be our crew, so we can tell people we have a crew. You must be subservient to our higher mission, which is to hang out and eat and drink for free, but not get busted like the Salahis. They're amateurs at posing. WE'RE professional poseurs.

* Location: Uranus
* Compensation: Lawn care and vehicle maintenance plus baby sitting and light chores which don't involve standing.

At least they're paying something!

Seriously, I've done a couple of these for long-term clients, and helped equip PA friends with some gear to do this. It's basically bring a DV camera, ask a few questions, and get a little B-roll...just so the client can see how the potential subjects interact on camera.

Not sure I'd flag this as a great example of some of the Craigslist lunacy out there.

Not sure I'd flag this as a great example of some of the Craigslist lunacy out there.

I wouldn't, either.

If I was just beginning in the business and wanted to get a little more experience under my belt without a lot of pressure, I'd take it. I did a lot of free work in my early days 30 years ago and ultimately it made the difference between why I was successful and why many of my friends went off to sell insurance or something because they couldn't move ahead. You take what you can get and keep moving up the ladder one rung at a time. Besides, $150 is a hell of a lot more than you could make working at most regular jobs in 2 -3 hours, and camera gear just isn't that expensive anymore. My advice to a newbie would be to take it and pull out all the stops to do a great job.

I would flag it. Why? Another LA studio? It just sound like they are low-balling. If it really is just fact finding, why a HD camera? Why a sound package. 2-3 hours with a producer over your shoulder? When was the last time you did a 3 hour shot? It could be a good learning experience or a nightmare.

I did many freebies when starting, but I did it with friends or with people that had lot to offer and learn.

Here is there site...Reality Shows...Looks like they can pay a standard rate

Shooter / Editor Needed For Music Video and Promo Video for Singer (East Portland / Fairview)

Reply to: gigs-zc2m5-1982375367@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Established female singer needs concept music video to be posted all over the web and a promo video for press kit.

What shooter / editor receives:
- concept music video for your online reel;
- meals during shoot;
- full credit;
- opportunity to work with positive, uplifting female country star on the rise!

Your video will be a major part in her success and will receive thousands and thousands of views!!! This is an internationally touring artist so your video will also receive worldwide exposure.

I'm not in a financial position to give monetary compensation at this point, however, as my financial situation improves I will remember those who helped me along the way. I'm looking for someone who is passionate about making videos and is okay with doing this as a trade for exposure/advertising. I have some videos of my performances that can be used but I'd like to shoot new video, too.

I am to have final approval.

Please send links to your web videos. Thank you.

What I would do is find out her name, google it, and see what she's done and where she's really played. If she really does have potential, I might take the gig but force her to sign a contract that states I am the exclusive videographer for all her stuff for the next 20 years. If a record label signed her, they'd have to honor the contract and I'd cash in big time. Imagine having a contract like that with Carrie Underwood before she went on Idol.

Compensation: Payment: $250/shoot including travel and parking

Wow, 250 WHOLE dollars you say? You had me sold at "parking included"!!! Hello financial freedom!!

So, let me get this straight: both you, Mr. Big Time Emmy Award Winning ProducerDude, AND your "shooter" somehow haven't managed to secure a camera package for your Big Time Doc Project. But you'd like to use--for free--the gear that I financed and paid for, and as compensation, I get to stand out of the way and watch.

Oh wait, as payment, I get to have you educate me about how I can scam other shooters out of their gear, so I never have to buy any equipment again. Because that's how we Big Time Emmy Award Winning ProducerDudes roll....

(and BTW, exactly how does a Canon XH-A1 convert its images into celluloid for your documentary "film" production?"

Exchange: video gear day-use for free filmmaking lessons (Portland)

Once field production concludes in mid-January, producer will provide an additional full-day of one-on-one field production training on camera usage, lighting, audio recording, post production, or any desired areas. Film producer has won Emmy's at the national level and also as an instructor. Need help on your latest project? Have gear that sits around 29 days per month? Want to learn some advanced skills? Great opportunity.

Wireless lavaliere microphone and camera-mountable light are BIG PLUS. Sennheiser G2 100 Series is preferred. Two mics...bigger plus.
