Basic FCP question

I'm relatively new to Final Cut Pro, and I have a question...

In the Viewer, there is a green circle with a check mark in it.

How do I make that go away? It bugs the crap outta me.

Excess Luma

At the top of the viewer and canvas windows, there are three drop down menus. They are between the two timecode boxes. The one furthest to the right looks like the outline of a square. Click it, then deselect "Show Excess Luma"


Check mark gone.

I think it's also "fn Z" that takes that off.

Personally, I keep that on. Since I have to hire shooters, I always like to make sure the video isn't too hot.
