Archive and logging system

I'm taking over a less than organized station that has not kept any kind of archiving database for the past three years. Going forward, what is the least time consuming software/tape management system everyone uses? We are NOT an affiliate, just a resort TV station(on a next to nothing budget to say the least), but I want to have an accurate yet easily accesable system to find old video from tape, as we don't have the resources to store on a raid or other computer based drive system. We shoot DVCam, edit Final Cut 5.0 HD. Just looking for some feedback.

Well, I'm not a TV station, but I use MediaFiler from Vortex to keep track of all my tapes, discs, USB sticks, hard drives and so on. It's very cheap and there is almost no learning curve. They even have a network multi-user version that you can use on your TV station. It really is the best software I bought in the latest years.
