I have read many reports and have actually seen it live where photogs lock their keys in the car. I carry a spare key taped to the inside of my belt. I use gaffer's tape because it doesn't get sticky like other tape.

It's such an easy mistake to make. I have had to use my spare several times and it has always saved me time and money!

terry, i recently started doing the same thing. i also have a back up which isn't on the belt, but rather in a laminate on my landyard. if I need it, just crack it open or whatever and your in business; kinda like those nuclear key codes you see in movies. i also do it for my gear locks as well.

peace,
matt

Despite making me look like a janitor, I have a key ring on a retractible line with spare keys to my news unit and all three live trucks. I've been burned too many times in the past.

The few times that I got locked out of my unit is when I gave my keys to the reporter to use. I wear a fanny pack with my phone, keys and other stuff in it....
