What I Know Now...

Oh, one more thing...

When it comes to editing NEVER use your best shots, only your best sequences. And remember that good audio will make your video look amazing, even if no one realizes that it is the audio which drives the piece. (I personally feel that if there is one thing that has set me apart from other photogs I've worked with, it is that I pay just as much attention to audio when I edit as I do to video.)

You're gonna have to explain that one a bit.
If I have a great shot, I'm going to make sure it's in the story, sequence or no sequence.

Content is king and format (while helpful) is irrelevant.

I used to b!tch and moan that other stringers were getting sales on crap gear when I was on betacam and getting snubbed.

Years later, I looked back at some of my old stuff and realized even though my gear was better, my shots weren't. Sometimes their shots sucked just as bad as mine, but they got on the phone faster than I did.

So it goes. Lesson learned. A mistake that won't be repeated again.

Going back to it soon. Have had enough of cubicles. Fair warning. :)
