So they’ve placed a video camera in Barbie’s necklace pendent and an LCD screen in her back. Now she’s “Video Girl!”

If you you felt goofy walking around with a Flip Camera… try a pink laden barbie doll.

Ok, I laughed out loud when I saw this, but all of a sudden it made sense for two applications – and ONLY TWO.

1) Convince your young daughter that video production is a cool career. )There’s even a simple edit software to teach proper sequencing)

2) Undercover camera – send a child in with her Barbie to get great undercover video.

“Barbie Video Girl — who doubles as a video camera with LCD screen and comes with video editing software — is actually a product of a collaboration with YouTube star iJustine, hence the resemblance.”

Enjoy… just beware of where you plug in the USB cable.

Then I saw this clip from Michael Koerbel and crew. Shot and edited solely on an iPhone4 in 48 hours. Very nicely done.

There doesn’t seem to be multi-track audio editing – so you can’t really do a package on it. The audio you hear (other then a music bed) has to come from the video clip your viewing at the time.

Maybe I’m being nit-picky about the editing prowess of a phone – it is utterly amazing it can do any of this – but I don’t think it’s ready for local news just yet.

Then again… this is only the first release of the software… hmmm.

Ed Curran, a reporter for WBBM-TV in Chicago, is shooting the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with an iPhone  outfitted with an Owle bube lens attachment.

I guess it makes sense for a technology show – but how soon will we see this everywhere in news?

On your iPhone, go to: http://goldenhour.info,  bookmark it, and simply click on “Get Information.” You can’t really get any easier than that. In seconds, the phone figures out its GPS location and tells you the important times and dates. Very cool…

In the b-roll.net FORUM, Shootblue has posted a recommendation for the WunderRadio app available for both the Apple iPhone and Windows Mobile platforms (Blackberry coming soon).

I downloaded the WunderRadio app…which is pricey, but worth the investment. One of the benefits I found was the connection with Scan America…Several of our local counties police/fire/ems are covered and are listenable on the feed over the phone…I used it today and it worked great.

Check out the list of scanner frequencies in your state.

It’s listed at $14.95 USD for Windows Mobile, and $6.99 USD for the iPhone app.

Wunder Radio

SeattleShooter recommends Emergency Radio by EdgeRift with over 1,000 frequencies it’s not a bad iPhone app at only $.99.

The folks at Zacuto have released a ZGrip for the iPhone 3Gs. Initially this is priced at $295, but this is the Pro model. A consumer grade version is in the works. Considering the iPhone 3Gs goes for $299 – the ZGrip iPhone PRO is quite an investment.

I can’t wait to see the next feature film shot with an iPhone…

I take that back. I’m happy to wait!
