First iPhone Film Shot and Edited on a Phone

June 28, 2010 discussion, lead

I was just playing with the iMovie app on my iPhone today to see what it can do. I felt clumsy with my big fingers pushing around trim edits, but I was impressed with what a phone can do.

Then I saw this clip from Michael Koerbel and crew. Shot and edited solely on an iPhone4 in 48 hours. Very nicely done.

“Apple of My Eye” – an iPhone 4 film from Michael Koerbel on Vimeo.

There doesn’t seem to be multi-track audio editing – so you can’t really do a package on it. The audio you hear (other then a music bed) has to come from the video clip your viewing at the time.

Maybe I’m being nit-picky about the editing prowess of a phone – it is utterly amazing it can do any of this – but I don’t think it’s ready for local news just yet.

Then again… this is only the first release of the software… hmmm.
