    Mike,

Thanks for the great tip for saving b-roll but what about using some kind of compression or squeeze program with quicktime to fit more video on my portable drive. Is this possible and do you loose any quality or speed in importing it back into avid? Thanks Kevin for the great website.

Wow. After watching this I appreciate Final Cut Pro’s P2 work flow much better.

We’re still using Beta SX Tape to Tape but here’s hoping… running to catchup we’ll be converted soon.. still, we’ve got a lot of older members of the staff and talent to train so it’s very exciting, thanks for the tip!

Seems more efficient to just shoot on tape… Not sure about exporting as quicktime, then re-importing. FCP workflow: 1) copy contents of P2 card to backup drive 2) drag clips into bin 3) done

Makes me happy I didn’t go with Avid and chose FCP! Much easier, efficient workflow in FCP.

  6. Brian says:

Using Avid AMA you can also copy the P2 disk to any folder and import using Mount AMA volume. Just as simple as FCP.

    Mike,

Thanks for the tips, but are you familiar with how you would handle these clips in the same way in final Cut Pro? Any info would be great!
