Default Sony's BIG Announcement

Anyone know what Sony's BIG announcement is on 10/20/09? It appears to be regarding their EX line. Full size EX camcorder?

Tell you what, I'm hanging out for ANYTHING new from Sony - they're about to loose our newsroom to P2 if they can't give us SOMETHING decent soon! And I'll be blatant, biased and honest, I don't want to go P2.
It better be impressive.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that the EX1 is backordered on B&H's website?

what is the R supposed to signify? And I would be another pulling for the xd on a full sized camera, even if it is only 1/2" chips.

I'm guessing an EX5. A shoulder mounted EX with 1/2" chips and interchangeable lenses, and otherwise not much different from the 1 or 3. I'm guessing it will cost at least $10,000, but probably more. Unlike the 3XXs, it won't do DV-CAM which will be annoying for those of us who still have SD customers. It won't do XD disks either.

Read CCDs would be nice though.

i'm guessing the same as 2000 - something that matches up with the panasonic 300. "full-size" with smaller chips...

I'm guessing they're buying Saturn. Afterward, they'll ask the U.S. government for billions in bailout money so they can give their executives huge bonuses.

Over the years I have found out that the "Big Announcement" is never really that big.

Canon is also having an announcement on the 20th. Some say it's the 1D mkIV.

Do you think it might be this?

I am currently planning on buying a JVC GY-HM700 but a full size EX with 1/2" CCD's may very well scrap those plans. I said in a previous thread that if they put the EX3 in the SVR270 body, I'd be more likely to buy one. I'm not holding my breath though.

I'm going with the 35mm (but not really full sized) chip video camera. Think Sony may have been a tad embarrassed that Canon stole a march on them. And hopefully it won't "overheat" in Afghanistan:-) I wish they'd make a shoulder mount EX3 type camera.

It's the EX1R, and it is NOT a BIG announcement. This is the camera they should have built the first time around. It seems to solve most of the handling issues (power button, etc.) that kept me from buying the EX1 in the first place.

No full size camera. Yet.

I know, the updated EX-1 with cache record and can record SD and a better S&Q recording
(don't have to go in 2 menus deep to set up your over or undercranking) and all for a lower
price. But a little bird told me this is NOT the big Tuesday announcement.......I guess we'll
see for sure on Tuesday......

This "announcement" wouldn't have anything to do with the Peyton Manning commercial I saw on TV this morning, would it?
