I have a shotgun mic and the tip of the windscreen has come off. I think velcro on my camera case must have caused it to tear little by little, so eventually the end was just dangling. I finally just pulled the tip off completely because it was distracting and wasn't doing any good as a windscreen.
Rather than buy a new windscreen, which is about $70, I want to just glue the tip back on. I know that certain kinds of glue will not work on acoustic foam because it dissolves the foam. Does anyone know what kind of glue WILL hold this on, without interfering with the sound? |

OR - you can get a stick mic type foam windscreen to put over it....and maybe even add a generic fuzzy to it....see links...

Superglue gel. The 10 minute version.
This works well. Ive used it to repair various foam windsocks, and permananetly attach a foam 'cap' to a lav. Also silicone (as in black automotive silastic) works well. Just make sure you wear rubber golves with either of these...

I don't know what glue is best, but I do think some might "eat" away at the windscreen, so be cautious as you test.
I think I've seen this with some Pick-n-Pluck foam. I think I tried some hot glue & it melted away some of the foam as I was gluing.

I ended up trying good ol' Elmer's white glue, the school kind. So far it's holding the foam on and doesn't appear to be eating away at it.

elmers will not eat the foam... it is ok and if in snags in the pores on both haves and dries yo are good to go... just don;t want to coat the entire foam surface and clog just the line of juncture of the two parts!

I spoke too soon about the Elmer's school glue working. The tip has fallen off again.
