Sony is a business after all.. SXS type 1 32 GB is around $600 or less.. can a professional camera person or production company not afford to buy even 4 of them..
Didn't they all used to have to buy tapes.. at $20-30 each.. at the least.. I don't think Sony have to cater for guys shooting real estate video,or the local high schooll football game ..
SXS cards are very cheap compared to buying tapes over time.. very reliable .. restore media functions etc.. its a part of the gear .. and very cost effective these days.. whats the moaning.. if you can't afford the gas.. don't buy the car..

I agree.
And if you choose to use cheap gas (SDHC) instead of the recommended premium gas (SxS) don't expect any sympathy when your car unexpectedly breaks down at the side of the road once in awhile.

If your car could run the same on $3/gal milk instead of $4/gal gas, which would you put in the tank?

I have had excellent results with SDHC cards in a EX1. Biggest difference I've noticed is that SxS is faster offload. But SDHC cards are now getting to the price of a $20 beta tape. They're cheap enough to be a single use & put on the shelf for archive like tape. SxS cards aren't even close to that price.

To me it is like when I couldn't set a custom sound for text messages or e-mails on my iPhone, when I could set a custom sound for the ring. The only reason you couldn't change the alert tone is because Apple decided the user shouldn't have the power to.

If it was vital i got to where I needed to go within a certain time.. and I was being paid to go there.. Id put in the $4 gas.. if I was mucking around on my own time the milk.. but I,d need some chocolate too..

After reading the specs, reviews, and seeing the pictures, I'm convinced that this camera is what I was wanting from Sony. They basically created a hybrid using the best parts of the EX1R and NX5U. I have the NX5U and the only two things I really would have liked to see available on that camera is the XDCAM EX codec and a lens with a focus ring with stops instead of being continuous. That's basically what this camera is. Sadly, what was left off the 200 that I think should have be included was the option to use the FMU128 flash hard drive that the NX5U uses but that is my only complaint.
