Default Found out I'm related to a famous photojournalist

I've been doing some genealogy lately...and Memorial Day seemed like a good day to bring this up. I've discovered that one branch of the family tree has quite the history. One relative came over with William Penn in 1683 and was there when he signed the treaty with the Indians. Fast forward to his grandson who had a Revolutionary War skirmish called 'Pyle's Massacre' named after him. He later went on to meet George Washington and give him British secrets that helped the colonists win at Yorktown. A few generations down the line I found that WW2 Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Ernie Pyle is a relative.

Did an interview for a book about eight years ago...with one of the last folks to speak with and see Pyle before he was killed. I think he has a photo of the two of them together. Nice to have that connection ShootBlue...

Not to jump in your bandwagon, but me too. My Great Uncle (Grandfather's Brother) Sam Stavisky was a Marine Combat Correspondent during WW2. He worked at the Washington Post for a while after his service was over. He later wrote a book by that name.

A little more connection for you: There's a nice little museum in Indiana dedicated to Pyle, you should visit it! Last I heard, though, they were underfunded and needing help.
Also, I got to shoot a 9/11 ceremony at a grade school named for him one year, in Indianapolis. Odd thing was, most of the kids at the ceremony were born after 2001 (not so unusual now, that was just the first year that it had dawned on me).
