Wow, that's a lot of shooting gear they use on that show. Rear LCD monitors....
Or maybe I have to get used to the trendy "transparent production" look. :-) Show looks good though. CP |

audio is a bitch on that show. Many a friend worked on it, but all went into hiding when they called again.

I've worked the show twice. Not a bad gig and they pay pretty quick. The cameras are XDCam 355's with a litepanel on front and a marshall 4" lcd on back. In a word...heavy. AB bricks. Wexler has a engineer there onsite and all cameras are set up and matched. Any problems you immediately take the gear in and they swap it out.
It's a long day, and they run several crews (lost count, about 8). They also shoot for another show at the same time, "Pinks Outtakes". That's a seperate crew, and a little more fun, as you go around and do short profiles on the cars and their owners. If you like hot rods, that's the best gig on this show. The audio is a little tough, as you have about 8 people you have to be able to get to very fast. Audio guys have a chart with the talent's picture and frequency, so they can punch them up to whatever camera they are close to. Overall, I like working the show...it's as frantic and fast paced as you see on tv. It's not for someone that likes a structured day. You move fast and shoot a lot of video. They are good about making time to grab lunch and having a craft services area....everyone I worked with on the show was nice and we all had a good time. |
